What is Alfacip?
Alfacip contains 1-hydroxy cholecalciferol or Alfacalcidol which is a Vitamin-D supplement. It is used as a vitamin-D supplement in rickets, and to treat hypocalcaemia in a variety of renal and bone disorders.
Classification and Mechanism of Action
Alfacalcidol is a Vitamin-D analogue. It gets hydrolysed the liver to an active component calcitriol which is a hormonally active metabolite of vitamin D3. It regulates calcium balance and bone health.

Store it below 250C. Keep away from heat and moisture.
How to take Alfacip?
Take it orally with food.
The initial recommended dosage in adults is 1mcg daily. However, consult your doctor about the correct dosage. It depends on the age of the patient and the condition being treated.
Consult your doctor right away.
If it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose or else take it as soon as you remember. Do not double dose.
Warnings and Precautions
Monitor calcium levels before starting this drug. Do not take if you are allergic to any ingredients in the medicine. Exercise caution in cases of renal calculi, pregnancy, and severe renal disease.
Possible Side Effects

· Excessive urination
· Headache, Excessive sweating
· Ectopic calcification
· Excretion of calcium in urine
When Alfacip should not be used?
Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient in the drug. Do not use in hypercalcemia, hyperphosphatemia.
How long should you take Alfacip?
As long as prescribed.
