Aygestin Product Description
Aygestin is a hormonal medicine used to treat menstrual irregularities and diseases of female reproductive organs. Aygestin tablets should be indicated only to women who have gynecological disorders caused by hormonal factors.
Aygestin is effective in the treatment of various gynecological conditions characterized by irregular menstrual periods. Adult women aged 18 and older can use the tablets of Aygestin for:
- treatment of functional or primary dysmenorrhoea
- relief of premenstrual syndrome symptoms
- postponement of menstruation in frequent menstrual bleeding
- long-term therapy of endometriosis (up to 9 months)
- short-term treatment of secondary amenorrhoea (up to 10 days)
If you forget to take a pill of Aygestin, the effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy can be decreased. If you miss a dose of Aygestin, immediately take one missed pill of Aygestin. The next dose of this hormone medicine should be taken on the next day at the regular time. You are not advised to take more than one pill of Aygestin on the same day.
Aygestin can be used for prophylaxis of dysfunctional bleeding only if no signs of the recovered normal ovarian function after the hormone therapy. To treat recurrent symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome or dysmenorrhoea, Aygestin pills can be taken within several consecutive menstrual periods.
If painful intermenstrual vaginal bleeding appears during the long-term hormone therapy, the application of Aygestin tablets should be stopped. The long-term progestin therapy can be resumed only when the abnormal vaginal bleeding is stopped.
Aygestin tablets must be stored in a dry place, at room temperature not above 25ºC. Keep Aygestin hormonal medicine out of reach of children.
Aygestin Safety Information

At high risk of blood clots formation, the measures for thrombosis prophylaxis should be recommended to the women.
